Rockville, VA - January 22, 2009 -- TecAccess, a worldwide leader in accessibility solutions, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with the law firm of Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville PC (www.ppsv.com), with the goal of offering a highly anticipated new product known as Digital Accessibility Trends Analysis (DATA) to the business community and governmental agencies around the globe.
PPSV attorneys John D. Kemp and Elisabeth Doyle recently launched Digital Accessibility Trends Analysis (DATA), a comprehensive quarterly subscription service that is aimed at keeping government and private industry competitive and informed about global disability policies as well as legal and marketplace drivers.
Kemp, a disability law expert and published author, is known nationally and internationally for his efforts to assist organizations of all sizes to monitor web accessibility and digital technology in light of growing legal realities and the pervasiveness of the Internet.
"The momentum of accessibility law is growing at breathtaking speed," said Kemp. "Universal accessibility is an idea whose time has come."
Doyle, a former Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey, added, "There is a growing global movement toward the recognition of disability rights as human rights, and toward the full inclusion of people with disabilities in all spheres of life - education, employment, political, and social. IT accessibility is recognized as a vital component in ensuring that inclusion. This growing movement will create even greater marketing opportunities and an imperative for businesses to develop accessible products and Internet and to engage in genuinely inclusive hiring practices."
DATA meets the increasing need to monitor developments in law and policy pertaining to web accessibility and digital technology, and how these directly impact upon commerce, employment, and overall organizational efficacy. In each issue of DATA, Kemp and Doyle address the current climate and timely topics pertaining to disability and/or accessibility, such as the recently settled case of National Federation of the Blind v. Target, as well as the now-ratified UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Article 9 of the Convention which specifically addresses accessibility.
"The very first issues of DATA have quickly generated praise -- and a global buzz-- throughout business and legal communities," said Debra Ruh, founder of TecAccess.
"PPSV has provided valuable website accessibility information to HP since 2005," said Michael Takemura, Director of Hewlett-Packard´s Accessibility Program Office. "With Digital Accessibility Trends Analysis, PPSV gives us deeper insights and provides HP with critical up-to-date information on global disability policy, international disability law, and market drivers for accessible information and technology."
Forthcoming issues will further explore global disability policy, as well as the current climate of the legal and business sectors. In addition, DATA will uncover international developments, such as the British case of Latif v. PMI, which raises serious questions about the jurisdiction of accessibility laws and whether American companies will be held to the standards of other countries in which they reach or deliver services to customers. DATA will also inform readers about specific industry models, such as Walgreen´s accessible website, which was designed to attract individuals with disabilities. Additional topics include accessible media and advancements in disability employment.
DATA subscriptions include: in-depth quarterly reports, annual webinars, breaking news bulletins, access to web archives with a searchable database, and up to two hours of private consultation with John Kemp and/or Elisabeth Doyle to assist in subscribers´ application of DATA findings to their current and planned activities.
"Few moments in business history have held such promise or opportunity," said Kemp, "DATA will provide you with in-depth analysis imperative to future business strategies."
