Rockville, VA-- July 10, 2003-- The United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO) has awarded TecAccess, a worldwide leader in Information Technology Accessibility and Section 508 Compliance Solutions, an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) simplified acquisition to provide the agency with Section 508 consulting, testing, and training. TecAccess is proud to support the USPTO Section 508 program, which is considered to be a best practice in the Federal Government.
Section 508 is the amendment to the Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973 signed into law by President Clinton in 1998. It requires all federal departments, agencies, contractors, and federally funded companies to procure electronic and information technology (E&IT) products that provide the same level of access to people with disabilities as to those without.
About the USPTO
The USPTO administers patent and trademark laws protecting intellectual property and rewarding individual effort. Intellectual property is a potent force in the competitive free enterprise system. One way to support the customers and workforce associated with intellectual property is to provide them with a first class Section 508 program. The USPTO has diligently worked toward creating such a program.
